Exclamation QUESTION: power outlet (cigarette lighter)

...i plugged in my friend's portable Navigation system into my cigarette lighter(in my Lexus)... to see if it worked which it did, since it stopped working in his car..so i took it out and plugged in my radar detector (which turned on as usual)...but then my friend came back to my car and asked to see if i could try find a place for him..so i hook it back up in my car, at which point it didnt work so i tried seeing if my radar worked (to check if it was the outlet or just his navi)...turned out my radar wouldnt work anymore either...my guess is the fuse is out ....? what do you guys think and if it is the fuse, how much should it typically cost to have it fixed

To replace the fuse?

They would probably do it as a courtesy to you...

There are usually an extra fuse or two in the fuse panel. Should only take a minute to locate and replace that particular fuse. If you look in the manual, you'll find the fuse diagram and a 'map' of where that fuse is.

Just find it, remove it and replace it with the same voltage fuse (maybe a 10 for that item) and you'll be good to go.

I think you mean the same amperage fuse. The voltage ratings on fuses are related to the conditions under which they are capable of fulfilling their basic function, which is opening the circuit when a current over the rated current is detected. Any voltage rating over the highest potential that can be expected to exist after the circuit is opened is acceptable.
