Just sucks that I got the car a week or two ago.. it was mercedes certified too.

Took my car to San Diego Mercedes this morning, they said it soulds like my Cat Converter. Thank god for warranty.

Certified Pre-owned is a JOKE! There was a list of problems with my SL when I bought it that anyone would have noticed, including not even perfoming the fix for the SBC recall. Plus, all of the brakes were badly glazed and squealed like a terrified pig, etc, etc.

I think that if the dealer fixes something under the certification inspection, he has to pay for it, but if he waits until after he sells the car, then you bring it back in for the problem, then the factory pays for the repair as a warranty item.

I have noticed a similar ticking in my 2003 SL500. Please let me know if the dealer's initial thought was correct. I only have 3 weeks remaining on my warranty.

I will let you know as soon as I pick it up. They are also fixing my lumbar, which was not working on either seat.

Confirmed, they told me today that the replaced an exhaust pipe and cat converter, all under warranty.
