SL/R230: 07 SL550 vs. 07 SL55....depreciation question
MBUSA has a 61% residual on the SL550 and a 58% residual on the SL55 for a lease currently.
That's their take, what's your best guess resale wise?
Just curious on your thoughts...
But I'm a bit concerned that this is the last of the 55K models and that's its going to be viewed as a dinosaur in a year......let alone 3 years.
Hence, hohum resale values.
But, I could be completely off base.

To be honest though I think the new round of V12's (beside the 65's) are going to hold their own very well into the future. The TT's seem like they really boosted the values ability to retain themselves (did that make sense) and I see the same happening tot he 55's now that they have the superchargers (granted, the SL55 always had one...)
I don't think the SL55 will lose it's value in the future. The SL500 did because a) SL550 came out
b) SL55 was a much better buy
c) SL600 was a much better buy
SL500 just got screwed, it was an old engine model (three valves / cylinder, ho-hum performance -- only 302 hp in a 5L) and early models had major issues (air leaks in the roof, just general faults with a newmodel car) which all lead to many owners to dump their cars (hey, dad almost dumped his if I didn't offer to take it off his hands).
