What Wheels
I just purschased a 03 sl500, and do not like the stock wheels, I want something chrome, that looks o.e. not too radical, I looked at a few replica wheels, something that is called "split spoke" appears to be a copy in chrome of the AMG. What has been used by some of you? the dealer did not have anything chrome, and all his were very pricey. will 20" wheels have any negative effect on the ride and handeling?

Don't ever buy aftermarket stuff from your dealer. They'll always overcharge you.
We have plenty of sponsors at mbworld that'll give you cut-throat pricing and fantastic service.
20" rims will make your ride a lot more stiffer than say your current 17" or 18" rims. Also handling may be worse as well depending on the width of the new rims, the weight, as well as the offsets. There is a lot to consider.
Got any pictures of what style you want as well as a price range?

I agree w vraa, 20s are will change the dynamic of the car we luv, eg the smooth sporty ride. Try 19s and lower the car if u want a more aggressive look. I live in Atl and Craig a sponser from butler tire 770-458-3828 for the Nov 5 AMG event, has a wheel that is really great and looks like a Brabus monoblock VI split spoke. I believe they are 400 each.

19 Chrome AMG Double Spoke Rims + Tires
I have a set of chrome 19" AMG double spoke rims & tires from my SL55. The are the same style and size rims that are on a SL65 except they have been chromed. The rims are in excellent condition (no curb damage) and the tires (Bridgestone Potenza) have under 7500 miles on them. The forum is not allowing me to post pictures, so to view them go to:

The size issue is well taken, every wheel store I have gone to wants to see me put 20" on the car, but they are all about looks, and I am not into the severe hip-hop look at all. I love the ride and handeling of the car, and would not want to impact that. I just hate the dark grey color of the oem 7 spoke wheels on it. Possibly I should look for a set of lighter color oem non-chrome alloy take-offs. I have seen a light color oem wheel, that kind of has circles in it, I think it came on one of the sport packages, I have seen photos of a black Sl with light interior posted here with them. Or 04 - 07 5 spoke alloy take-offs. Who would be some additionial vendors I could contact, Is there a list of vendors somewhere on the site?
