Yeah I was thinking about a tint job as well but figured I can do that anytime so I put that at a stand still.

Im thinking Rims, Lowering (Im going to visit a dealer and do what you stated to do next week), AMG Rear Lights, Euro front moldings, and still debating if I want to do the spoiler on the rear.....decissions decissions??

If you don't have the sport package, a front lip spoiler...

Three things that make the biggest difference in looks on any car are (1) lowering, (2) rims, (3) tint, and (4) ground effects / front lip.

After that... clearing out any orange reflectors to white. biggest waste IMO is a rear spoiler on this car... not very noticeable

It's less about the rear spoiler than it is about the rear lip. IMO it makes a subtle, yet powerful difference.

I think that lustedp put the best order.
1) Lowering to get rid of the wheel gap
2) Wheels to bring out the character
3) Tint (on a black car) to even out the over all color
4) Ground effects / front lip to add a dash of aggressive-ness.

I have the Sports Package on the car and it was something I really wanted. It makes a big difference in looks I think.

Im pretty easy and the only thing I really want to do is lowering (which Im going to work on next week), rims are still in debate and I really like the lorinser spoiler but your right its kind of a waste of money if your going to pay retail for it so if I can get a deal on it I may consider if not I really can care less. Other than that I want the Euro moldings in the front and AMG rear lights.

Dont get me wrong the car is perfect the way it is but I like to personalize all my cars! Just to make it stand out a little bit more than stock.

Next project once I get that all done is Performance mods!!

The lorinser lip would be considered a decklid right? If yes than yes it makes the car look very aggressive yet suttle and clean.

My first and only mod so far has been to add the wood trim pkg, and for less than the factory option price.
What's the approx price to add the front spoiler and twin-spoke wheels from the 2006-2007 AMG Sports Pkg?

I was talking about that little strip that goes on the trunk lid... not a rear valence which at the bottom of the bumper and you have already if you have the sports package or amg version...

the valence looks great. the trunk lid... isnt noticeable. a front lip however, makes a HUGE difference because it makes the car's front closer to the ground even if u dont have the car lowered.

speaking of which... i don't have the sports package. anyone know where I can get one or a good replica for cheap?

I was searching on Ebay for *****s and giggles and I saw people selling there AMG wheels for around $1000 with tires. You may want to look around on there as well as classifieds on here and other means like craigslist or something.

As for the Front spoiler and anything body you may be better off looking at mercedes recycling shops or maybe ask a body shop to get them for you at wholesale or maybe aftermarket pieces. Dealers will charge you up the A$$. Dont even bother.

Good Luck with everything and let us know how things are going. I want a few parts myself and finding nothing for reasonalbe but Im not in a rush.

Yeah I have the Sports Package so I know exactly what your talking about. I know the the trunk lid isnt really noticable to people but I spot those very quickly and really think it brings out the lines of the car. Thats me though. I hear alot of people talking about a front lip's on the cars but what do they look like? What brand?

As I was telling Sgooter its hard finding OEM parts at reasonable costs. Your best bet might be a recycling yard or maybe even a reputable body shop that may hook you up at wholesale pricing. Im trying to track down the SL55 rear lights and having a hard time on finding those. I wouldnt mind having the exhaust as well but Im not in a rush for them.

Good luck with your search and let us know how things went. If I run into anyone who can hook it up Ill let you all know. If anyone finds any let us know as well.

If you're going to do one mod make it wheels. Our customers usually tell us that wheels are their best and most significant mod.

Otherwise, there's a lot of small things (like lip spoilers) that we sell that will get you started... once you get the mod bug it's hard to stop

My first mod was hardwiring my V1 in. That is a must have for any car....whether a Benz or a Pinto. Besides that, only mods were AMG lights. I have black Lowenhart LDR's but have not installed yet. I think that will make the car look very mean.

Ricky and Cy...I thought about tinting....but wasn't sure how it would look.....how dark are your guys' tints? Ricky, I think your SL is black too.

I'm curious about the rear spoilers too. The ones I have seen were not too noticeable and if anything, took away from the lines of the car. Anyone have any pics of theirs'?

Hey johnny5,
Thanks for the good suggestions. Like you, I'm not in a rush for the sports pkg mods, so this will most likely be a long term quest.

I know exactly what your saying. Oh and as for the mod bug, its something that will never leave me. I have modded every single car Ive owned except my other commuter car which I was going to but refrained from doing!! You should see my M3.

Im thinking the first mod I do will probably be the wheels but than again it really depends on what I decide either HRE's or Lorinsers.

Forget both of those... DPE just came out with a new wheel to blow HRE out of the water... Also, Lorinser is very hard to get in the US now because CEC no longer imports them. There was a huge lawsuit over it.

I have no tint on dads SL.

DPE isn't on HRE's level, they never will be. It's like Lexus vs Mercedes.

HRE wheels all the way. Maybe get a front lip/rear trunklid spoiler.

Lorinser
Actually, Lorinser isn't hard to get in the States. Lorinser North America has been up and running for over a year now. The legal issues between Claus Ettensberger and Manfred Lorinser are now settled as well.

I like the fact how HRE are designed specifically for my car and each rim is custom made. Im thinking 20's should fill up the gap a bit.

As for exterior body parts I really like the Lorinser deck lid. I havent seen what front lips look like for our cars yet....anyone have pictures?
