SL/R230: Window tinting on SL...HELP

Window tinting on SL...HELP
I went to a place which does window tinting and they said they could do 5% all around for $175 on my SL600 (no front strip). I was wondering if that was a good price or could I get cheaper. Also not really sure how they do the tinting but this place puts the tints on the outside of the car, I thought it supposed to go on the inside of the car.... which way is better? THANKS

2. Tinting on the outside ...simply put:
...find another place to get it tinted...it should cost, from what I was quoted way back when, around $200-275 for the normal film...and around 350-450 for the huper optik, top of the line film which is much better at keeping out the UV rays (if that sounds right)

I agree, $175 to tint is too low, and I've never heard of the film going on the outside and I've had a car tinted in a third world country .. so .. RUN RUN RUN FAR AWAY FROM THAT PLACE!

ask them to see some of the work they've done...and also if they've done R230 SL's before...that rear window is very tricky to get access to and if they dont know what they're doing it could cause some issues both for them and with the quality of the job etc...you should also check which brands of tint they are authorized to install...

and I've read some stories about the shop accidently cutting the radio antenna or blocking or or something .. dont own a SL, so I wouldn't know, but search for "tint" on here before doing it.
