windblocker

Does anyone know of a clear(plexi-glass) windblocker made for the R230? The mesh screen performs well but completely blocks rear vision.

Are you using it with one of the mesh panels flipped down, so you're only looking through one layer of mesh? I've found that the visibility is pretty good when used that way.

Can you use it that way and still have the bar up?

Sadly for you, no. I was assuming the you normally have the bar down, since that's what most people do.

Maybe if the bar's up all the time you could put the mesh on backwards, but there would be a big crunch if the bar came down, so that's probably a bad idea.

I also like to keep my bar up so this will not be an option. Will keep looking for clear blocker.

I am very happy with the 750i. 22,000 miles and no issues. Best handling large sedan I have driven.

I was looking for a windguard for a friends SLK and found that there are a few people who have professionally made plexi guards that may be able to make them for your car if wanted. Heres one I was able to find but there is also another kind I couldnt find but you'll get an idea.

Thanks johnny5. I have contacted this company and they hope to have an SL blocker in a couple of months. The quality looks to be excellent. I will do a follow-up post when I purchase the blocker.

I have driven around with the bar up screen on (doesn't really keep wind out efficiently) and it looks a little strange due to the double layer of screen since it wasn't designed that way....and the gap underneath.

The I started rolling with the screen up and rollbar down....wind was blocked a lot but looks kind of dainty....not a good look IMO.

Then I took the whole thing out and am very happy with the roll bar up with no screen as well as the improved space it frees up in the inside...It makes the interior feel bigger and now I can see the damn rear parktronic...I really really like the look with the roll bar up and screen off but will keep the screen in the trunk in case of a long freeway drive....

I really don't care about wind too much since I do my hair with hardcore gel that doesn't let it move too much...lol

Do some SL's not have this screen stock...was it a dealer option?

Our car came with the windscreen. One thing we don't lke is that it shakes around and rattles when not in the upright position while with it up the rear visibility is slightly compromised.
We ended up taking it off as the interior looks much cleaner without it.
