I am curious as to how the power of my SL600 after getting the Renntech Stage 2 would compare to a Stock SL65 AMG. Anyone know?

On the HP and Tq numbers claimed from renntech the 600 has the edge but in real life from what I have seen if we are just talking the ecu and nothing else the 65 is a tad quicker. I think its close enough to come down to the driver.
I can definitely see where the driver could make a big difference. Is there any good upgrade for the SL600 other than the chip that is worthwhile? I looked into intakes, but they just dont give me enough bank for the buck IMO. Besides the chip, I had aftermarket resonators installed to open the exhaust up some.

I just sold my 2005 Renntech SL600 so I am very familiar with the car and acceleration. First, a Renntech stage 2 means the ECU/TCU upgrade and the Carbon Fiber Air Intake(CFAI). My car had the ECU/TCU only and I beat a 2006 CL65 both from a stand still and a roll by about 1/2 a car length to 130MPH. I didn't have the CFAI but I understand it really makes a nice difference even though the numbers are not high. Unfortunately it is very expensive.Originally Posted by iBkickinit

I don't feel the CFAI is needed. C&D already put down a 3.8 with the SL Renntech. The problem in the end wheel be who is the best at launching w/o wheel spin due to the torque of both cars. The stock SL600 already will give the SL65 a good run for it's money according to car mag 0-60 figures, again wheel spin was the culprit. W/RennTech added the moded SL will have an advantage over the SL65 and visa versa depending on the driver...Let's call Stig and get some lap times:-)
