Solution to Keyless Go ringing
I took delivery of my SL550 the day after Thanksgiving and was very unhappy by the constant chime whenever opening the door. 
I asked the MB salesman about disconnecting the chime and he said they couldn't because of the "safety" issue.
After trying everything to stop the ring, I stumbled upon a solution that's counterintuitive but WORKS! After opening the door, simply stick your car key into the ignition and the ringing STOPS, even with the door open.
Now I can read the manual and vacuum my floor mats without going nuts and losing my hearing. I told a friend who has a '05 SL500 and now he's forever indebted to me as he couldn't figure it out either, along with every MB salesman out there.

I just could not stand the constant chiming. My service advisor told me the same thing about it being a safety issue to disconnect it. Thanks again.

Thats too funny. Its the exact opposite in my Toyota. If the keys are in the ignition and the door is open (they figure you're about to lock the keys in the car) the buzzer goes off.

On the CLS, open the door, then push the up/down button on the upper left of the steering wheel controls, and the beep stops.

Curiously, the ML and GL, designed after the CLS, dont have this valuable feature.
