Mounting front license plate?

Greetings. When I got my car recently the frame for the front license plate was nit drilled in to the car. Does anyone have a good alternative for mounting the front plate without this frame? Maybe lower down in the front. I have the sports package with the black mesh grille in the front. Thanks.

Ugh .. front plate on a SL. I wish there was some electronic device to "drop it down" when you get pulled over or park somewhere and to pull it back up when you want

My wife was pulled over for no front plate on her E55. I attached it to the mesh on the front with cable ties. Does not look too bad. I have been driving my SL55 for almost 2 years without the front plate and should I get stopped I will probably do the same.

Hi. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I just have to put something behind the plate so it doesn't scratch the bottom of the spoiler (oh the horror). Maybe a license frame would clean that up a little also.
