SL/R230: Factory order questions

Factory order questions
It appears that, in order to get an SL550 configured exactly the way I want, I will have to do a factory order. How long does that typically take? How much of a discount off MSRP can I expect?

Have you considered European Delivery? You save 7% plus $750, and get to drive the car on the autobahn. The biggest problem might be temptation to stretch: the SL55 is the only AMG model available for European Delivery. But you can have an SL550 any way you want it configured as well.
Your dealer has a specialist who can tell you how long the arrangements would take. EDP normally wants four months, but they will expedite it.

I'd be interested in an answer to your question regardless of EDP. I'm interested in ordering a SL55 AMG (maybe this month?) but the delivery must be in March .. I wonder if thats viable.

I ordered mine November first for a second week in Jan production, delivery by mid Feb. You should be able to negotiate the price close to invoice.
I am not sure about the SL55, but I believe the ordering delay to be about the same.

I successfully ordered and received my 2007 SL 550. Ordered at the end of March 2006 and picked up in Germany end of May. Remember, depending where you drop off the car in Europe can change the shipping time back to your dealer in the US. I shipped from Stuggart and received the SL in the US by end of June 2006.
