I'm looking at an 03 SL 500 at my MB dealer it's a certified car with 23000 miles they want 60k? is this bad or troublesome yr and is it worth it. Is it better to look at a newer yr. My issue is the amount I have to spend. Any help would be appreciated.

for this model and there were lots of problems. Can you get a comprehensive warranty agreement from the dealer to protect you for a few years? Have you looked at the car's service records to see which problems have been fixed. There were some really wierd issues with this model/year like glue for the door panels that smelled terrible when the car was left sitting in the sun and closed up. Do a search on this entire forum for 2003 SL500 and you'll turn up some things to check. Price looks good for a car with low miles like that.

The 03's, the first year of the SL500 in the USA were hit and miss. Some had problems and others did not.

I had the 3rd SL500 in the area where I lived and fortunately, mine gave me ablsolutley no problems.

Good luck. You should be able to check the previous records from the dealership. Make sure it was a one owner car and check to see what has been done with it through the years.

If someone had taken good care of the care you should be able to see all the previous maintenance records.

I think that the price is a bit high. If it's a late production date 03' then you are better off. Stay away from the 02' year production dates. With the CPO you are only getting a warranty for 1 more year as the car is coming out of warranty now. An extended warranty for 3years and upto 100k cost me about 4.5k with 0 deductible.

Thats seems a bit high for an 03. I think you could find an 05
for about the same. As others have metioned. 03`s can have issues.
I think an 05 coming off lease single owner would be a better deal.
More warranty too.

If you ask my dad, if he could do it all over again, he'd never buy a first year model car.

I HAVE SL 500 only 1500 miles for $63k if you interested. let me know..
car is perfect codntion like new.. all is original
like brand new...
have panoramic roof parking sensor, and AMG wheels...
silver color/grey interior..
interior still smell like new.. car..
out side. no dent.. no rock chips..........

yes still warranty.. just drop at dealer yesterday for change oil..
