sL600?

Does anyone know how fast the new SL600 will be, and when it's expected to be released?

The SL600 will be a touch slower than the SL55 but faster than the SL500. It will be here after you see the SL55.

SL55 AMG
We're all assuming the SL600 will have the same engine as the face-lifted S600 and CL600 which offers the same power and greater torque than the SL55. But, it will likely be heaver and in the S600, they had to raise the hood line to fit the engine in. It's going to be a real tight squeeze in the SL.

The SL600 will likely be a few tenths slower to 60 than the SL55, but will offer a different driving experience. If you think about it, there isn't a car manufacturer in the world which offers 3 different cars (S, CL, SL) with a choice of 2 different engines (xx600, xx55 AMG) at the top of the tree.

Too Young To Drive
Won't fit I'd Say

I'd say it probably won't fit. They'll probably take one of the two turbocharges out, or replace the two turbos with one supercharger. The damn thing had problems getting into an S-Class; really doubt it'll get into the SL.

they may just mount the engine loewr into the engine bay. Don't you think that the engineers made the measurements before decidign on the sizes of either the Sl engine bay when building the SL, or the engine?
AS far as the SL600 being slower than the SL55 AMG, i doubt it? Why do both S-es and CL-s have identical acceleration figures? The weight ratio should not change between the two SLs either.
Now, the Sl600 may not be able to acheive the same top speed as the 55 (208mph), but that should not even matter in most of teh world.
I would take the 600 if teh performance is the same and the appointments in the 600 are better, as they traditionally have been compared to the AMGs.

Hmm...that would be sweet if they do that with the 600
