SL/R230: Wiring in my radar detector?

Wiring in my radar detector?
Hi Folks,
Was wondering if anyone had hard-wired in a radar detector on a 2003 SL500 yet and whether any advice can be offered in terms of ease of removing panels, which panels to remove and where I can take the electrical supply from?
I basically have a cable for my radar detector that I want to 'hide' in the dash and connect up to a power source that goes on/off when I turn the ignition on and off.
Thanks for any help or pointers!
Regards,
Geoff

Are you installing a windhield/vissor unit or remote grill mounted unit? I would never install anything but a hidden remote unit in these cars. Too much temptation for theft and damage.

Just for everyone's info, I managed to wire in a windscreen mounted radar detector, with the power taken from under the drivers side (I tapped into the wiring loom/connector for the computer test equipment) - it works like a dream... I took out the top of the air vent cover, and hid the cable under that, so you can't see the cable ...
This is a great cost effective solution for having a radar detector without those horrible curly cables dangling over your dash! :-)
Cheers...

What do most of you all use for Radar Detectors? I wouldnt mind finding out more about the Stealth Radars but from some of the ones I have seen they have a very bulky base section (main unit).
