SL/R230: Window Tinting

2007 Mercedes SL550
Window Tinting
Anybody in So. Cal know where is a good place to tint my SL550 windows. Any suggestions as to how dark the tint is suppose to be? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Agree. 35%. That's what I did on my rear windows. Did a light 50% on the fronts. Most cops don't bother w/ 30% but it isn't worth taking the chance but they sometimes get you for the fronts. I'm not sure about the front windows but last time I checked, no tint allowed (but I did it anyway). Either check with a reputable tint company, the driving handbook, or the CHP.

I used a place in LA off of La Cienega and the 10 (in the AL and Ed’s parking lot) because it was close to work. If you live here in the OC I would also recommend "The Tint Pro's" as they are mobile and can come to you.
I have a Pano roof and matched the factory tint (very dark) down the rear window. The look you get from this is phenomenal and gives the appearance of one piece of glass. As for the sides, I didn’t even tint them because Cop’s in Huntington Beach suck ***. If you are in it for looks, I just don’t think 35% is enough. If you are trying to get your car cooler when it sits in the sun you may want to check out 3m’s clear tint product that actually reduces heat as much as you would get with the darker stuff.
