SL/R230: Alarm question

Alarm question
When I lock my SL with the keyfob button, which sets the alarm, depending on where I park the alarm will go off. I find when I park in shopping areas that have buildings with alarm systems I have to just use the key to manually lock the car, since these alarm systems seem to trigger my alarm. If say I park in my driveway it doesn't have this problem. Have others had this problem and is there a cure? The dealer says that its the alarm systems around these building that is the cause and the nature of the SL beast and nothing they can do to correct. If there is away to correct I would like to know it so I could educate my dealer.

Any ideas of why it does it around building with alarm systems and not in areas where there are no alarms? Another question if it goes off how long does it keep going off before it finally stops? or does it just keep going off and binking the lights until your battery goes dead?
