SL/R230: C.D. player problem
C.D. player problem
I just for the 1st time tried to use the 6 disc magazine, I loaded the discs into the mag with the face up as noted, then slid the mag back in, and pushed the cd button on the command, I got a msg stating magazine empty, when I put a c.d. into the face of the command unit on the dash it plays just fine. I have had the car for a long time, yet never tried the 6 disc magazine before. Can anyone help?
First I would check the cable going in to the CD player. Push in on it to make sure all the pins have made contact.
Then, using only 2 cd's. put one in with the lable up an one with the lable down. Make sure they are originals, not home copies. If that does not help, maybe some one else can give it a shot.

Below is a post i made on 5/31/07 re: CD.
As I mentioned in my last two posts on this thread I had the button illumination problem and CD changer come up so I had to take it in to MB of Beverly Hills for warranty repair. The CD changer problem was not a fuse but something wrong in the COMAND unit or wiring connecting to the COMAND unit. In taking out the COMAND unit they noticed that my climate control system was not operating properly (I had not noticed that and had no complaints). Anyway they decide to replace the entire COMAND unit which they broke trying to install so they got another COMAND unit and they broke that one too trying to install it. My service rep said a COMAND unit costs $5500 - dealer cost! I asked if the mechanic had been fired for breaking $11,000 worth of equipment and he said no, that he was a good mechanic but just having a bad day. That's an understatement! So I go to pick up my car after the shop production supervisor installs the third COMAND unit and I test the CD changer (they switched out the entire magazine) and it is still not working so they give me another loaner car and replace it again. After three nights in the shop I finally get my car and everything is fine and dandy...except all 6 of my CD's that were in the magazine and the single one in the COMAND are not there. I was not able to eject the magazine at all when I brought it in originally to I could not remove the CD's. After some surprise at this revelation by my service rep he speaks to someone and finds out that the COMAND unit and the CD changer are sent back to the factory (Germany?)for disassembly and my CD's wil be mailed to me. Whew, what an ordeal! Still love my car though.
