SL/R230: Rust

2004 SL500, 2007 R350 Sport
Rust
July 2004 with 16,000 miles and it has rust on the leading edges of the front wheel arches, right on the inner lip. My CLK had the exact same problem and MB initially refused to fix it, saying it was caused by stone chips. After a few months and God knows how many phone calls and letters they gave in.
What do they say, a 3-year guarantee? Don' you believe it.
So I'm not in the least expecting a smooth fix. Don't suppose anyone else has or has had rust there?

SL 500 (R230) & S 65 AMG (W220)
Never had it on my SL 500, however, I previously owned 2 W210 E-Class cars (E 200 (Beater) & E 320) and the BOTH of them had this problem with the rust invading the wheel arches!
My advise is: Fix it quickly because the rust WILL crawl on untill it reaches the outside of your wheelarches!

Thanks Nick. Took it along to the body shop yesterday, so they took some pics and have sent off the report to MB. Can't wait!
Oh, and wife scraped under the front bumper so that'll be around £150 to fix.
Just gets better and better.
