Rim/Tire sizes

Dear All,

I'm looking for news rims this spring.
I was reading all forum to find out which sizes to use, but unfortunatelly, there are so many threads about it, that finallly I was lost.

So, I decided to make a topic about it if you are fine with it, so we can share information about our tire sizes and possible things...

Specially, I'm looking for someting that doesn't need spacers, I guess you too

Till now, I got such information/options of tires and rims sizes that i gathered from this forum:

18":
1) (F) 255/40/18, 8,5 (R) 285/35/18, 9,5

19"

20"

1) (F) 245/35/20, 8.5 (R) 325/25/20, 10

2) (F) 245/35/20, 8,5 (R) 285/30/20, 9.5

3) (F) 255/30/20, 8.5 perfect for lowerin'

Also, I find out that were a lot of threads which were not anwered at all.
Please, don't hesitate to put your known information about tire/rims sizes, so others coul find it fastly!

Maybe, we will come to final size which is the best for SL

I too am planning to upgrade my wheels to 20's but im confused as well. the list sdsl provided is great, but real life feedback would be better. according to the list i should be able to put 9.5s in the front and 11s in the back with no rubbing. but i've read conflicting posts on those who do and don't have rubbing problems.

i want to know what is the widest 20inch rim i can put on my sl without any problems?

The purpse of this thread was to put sizes which have less problems. And memebers could share their practise and suggest the best way to live our SL

I have 20X9.5" 255-30-20 and 10.5" 305-25-20. I havent had any problems with rubbing or clearance.

Actually, if you read the list, the Carlsson 20x9.5s and 20x11s that are listed will require that you:

Bend in the rear wheelarch lips
Seal the wheel housing
Flare the wheelarches

This information is in the 'Notes' column on the list.

The reason why your "widest" question is not so straightforward is that the fitment is a result of the tire width and offset as it relates to the acceptable outside position and inner clearance. You'll need to either take measurements or get this data and might benefit from a wheel offset calculator: http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

So, for example: If you switch from standard 18x9.5 40mm to 20x11 35mm you'll lose 14mm of clearance and your outer edge will extend 24mm.

This could be leading to the conflicting reports on 20x11s that you've heard in that offset varies by wheel type and manufacturer.

your right i overlooked that part of the list. so if i purchased a 20x9 with a 23 offset and 255/30/r20 tire for the front
and 20x10.5 with a 23 offset and 305/25r20 tire for the rear. I should be ok??
