Color selection

I have placed my order for 500Sl and expect a June 03 delivery.
Having plenty of time to make the color selection may not be a good thing. I have changed the color 3 times already.

Any opinions on Pewter with Berry?

Ahh Berry a color that is really interesting and different but do u want to live with it forever. In the end I decided to go with black interior and diamond silver exterior. Although if it wasnt for my wife and good friend I might have opted for the berry interior

I'm in the same position, expecting a Spring delivery and agonizing over colors. Pewter/Berry is a quite striking combination and lends a somewhat retro feel to the car IMHO, definitely a little out of the ordinary. I also really like the black maple trim that is fitted with the berry option. I am thinking about the same combo but like the previous poster am concerned that I might get tired of the red interior . . . a problem for me as I intend to keep the car a long time. On the other hand if you only keep your car a couple of years that might not be a problem.

We ordered my wife's 500 in diamond silver/stone. If it were to be mine, I would order black/berry. The red stiching in the charcoal dash when you get berry is beautiful and very classic/sporty. Of course, the sport option is a must, if for no other reason than you get the bigger wheels. A black SL with berry is the type of combo that will be very distinctive--the kind celebrities get. For what it is worth, I ordered my CL55 in black/charcoal, as my current CL is alabaster white/java and my former one was brilliant silver/ash. Needed a change. Don't think that the alabaster white would look great on the SL, but for some reason it looks quite stunning to me on the CL. Whatever the choice, it will be hard to go wrong on an SL body.

One of the greys or black is a safer option and I've noticed that almost all cars destined for resale by speculators do not have berry red.

Berry red is rather muted and does not shout from the roof-tops but it is a more extrovert statement which suits the nature of the SL well. It wouldn't work in a more restrained looking car like an S or CL. Black and silver suit it well, other exterior colours do not and the red/red combination on the SL55 forum is too "full on" for me.

For those of you agonising over your choice, I'd say it's important to see your chosen combination if you can in different lights. My own mind was made up when I saw "my" spec in Bologna in May.

Whether you'll get bored with berry red - or any combination - is down to you. I'm pleased with my choice but it's not for everyone.

KMO,

I'll let you know. I have a car coming in at the end of the month in pewter and berry with the bird's eye maple trim. I expect to like it a lot. Have had red before; takes a little getting used to, but if you like it - WOW.

My color combiniation would be the classic black on stone. I notice that hardly any SL's are being orderd in this combination and I suspect it's because of the nature of light interiors getting dirty quickly. 70% of the SL's I've seen are black/black, but in my opinion, the black interior tones down the car.

I only wish that they offered the stone interior with the dark colored wood (like the E class). I don't understand why they are limiting the color palette on the SL when it comes to the stone interior.
