Ceramic Brakes...?

Anyone heard if the SL 55 will have the new ceramic brakes like they put on the CL 55 F1??? so far I haven't seen anything that specs them....it just makes so much sense to me that they would...don't you think?....at least that is want I am hoping....if not I wonder if one could get a set from AMG...??? any thoughts...

One of the things that angers me is that Mercedes-Benz USA does not make available the customizing arm of AMG to the USA customer....I wonder what it would take...ie....$$$

Ceramic brakes would sure be something interesting to have, although I do not know what the benefits to me would be.

I know that the ceramic brakes would be able to handle higher temperatures (i.e., harder braking).

Details of ceramic brakes:

Rotors are carbon fibre heat impregnated (2,500 degrees) with silicon-carbide.

Benefits:

60 % lighter than cast iron

friction coeffient 25 times greater than cast iron

Can with stand temperatures of 2,550 degrees...without warpage...impervious to fade....consistent friction coeffient over entire temperature range.

Extremely durable....rotors will last more than 185,000 miles.

Enough said???

At my current rate (which I don't see letting up anytime soon) I'll hit 185,000 miles on my CLK55 in February 2005.

Wonder what the trade in value will be like then? :p
