Quarter Mile Runs

Just ran my 2003 SL500 on the quarter mile drag strip here in Phoenix. My times were slowest; 15.214 @ 93.476mph and the fastest 14.87 @ 93.850mph. Top speed 97.103 mph in the quarter, time sucked as I had a poor start. This is bone stock. Any one else out there w /a stock SL500 have any 1/4 mi times to boast about? Next week the Supercharged Nissan GT350 will be running the 1/4 mi.

The G35 coupe is about 800 lbs lighter than the SL, maybe more.

It is important to know the air conditions at your track before comparing to "published" times or other drivers from other tracks.

Phoenix is around 1100ft above sea level. Normally that would add about 2 tenths to your ET and remove about 1 mph in trap speed. That said a high or low pressure condition will help or hurt.

BTW, what is a Nissan GT350? Supercharged? Is it a tuner supercharged 350Z?

Not sure if you are speaking of barrometric pressure or atmospheric pressure, maybe those are the same. I think track temp plays a bigger factor as well as ambient temp. The cooler a car runs the more Hp will be produced. The runs were just for fun. What the bigger factor is, the SL500 weighs 2 tons.

The Nissan GT350 is a tuner project my wife and I have started. It is a 350Z with a twin screw, Stillen supercharger and some other minor mods.
