Tire Recommendation for 2005 SL500 Sport Pkg

I'm looking for tire recommendations for my 2005 SL with 18" Alpina wheels. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on it now and I find them very noisy. I've got about 30K on them so treadwear has been OK. I want something quieter and was thinking of either all weather version (Pilot Sport A/S) or Goodyear F1 GS-D3. I don't care about snow performance, I just want something quiet. What recommendations does everyone have? Are there others I should consider? Thanks.

You might check out forum sponsor Tirerack's surveys and test results. For noise, Michelin PS2s and Goodyear F1 GS-D3's rate highly both in consumer surveys and road tests. Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions rated very high in consumer surveys but not as high in actual tests.

One set of test results here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=101

PS2's

I don't think Michellin PS2's are available in 18's for the SL unless things have changed since the last time I looked.

I like PS2's on the SL55. I thought that they had them in 18s when I had 18s.

Since my car is derestricted I had to search out tires that were rated for speed AND weight of our cars, and the PS2's were the only game at the time. As for noise, they are acceptable to me...... but I am a bit of a nut!
