This car still has it. Not sure why the SL280 was shown here since we aren't getting it.

Funny, Porsche went back to the round headlights and MB is going to the stretched headlight as the previous model Porsche. As I said before, MB is trying too hard to be everything to everybody. All the cars are starting to look like each other. The C Class looks like the S class and the SL will look like the SLK. Soon the CLK will look like the CL.

I agree with you that the next CLK will look like the CL, but not on the others.

The C and S have looked alike since the 1994 C looked like the 1992 S. The CLK has always strived to be a mini-CL. Of course the SLK is going to look similar to the SL, the classic wedge roadster shape isn't going to be changed. Nothing new here at all, and the above picture is NOT the next CLK.

I hope we get this option over here. This is that Carbon Fiber package first seen on the CL65 AMG. Nice.

Ok this is much better. Body color for this piece.

Shame on MB fans for doubting Mercedes' facelift of the SL. This thing is gorgeous. No longer as pretty, but way more dynamic and in line with other newere Benzes.

that was an european pic and the sl stayed a 500 model while it went to 550 in the states. same new engine but different #

i still don't like the sideview it looks likes moby dick. lol

but i must say the amg and/or sport bumper from the front looks pretty damn mean and i like the rear bumper

but still think MB should have waited for the all new model to change the headlights. this will definitely have an adverse affect on our cars value. it doesn't really matter to me that much since ill be keeping my car for awhile. but i don't know if i will be buying a benz again since they are starting to change models and/or styles to quickly.

The headlights changed because the hood was changed to comply with EU pedestrian impact standards. I don't have a problem with MB changing the front end, because if they hadn't, they would not have been able to sell the SL in Europe. What I do have a problem with is the careless, thoughtless and tasteless way in which they did it. The headlights are an afterthought. This SL is an abomination.

i know and understand the EU pedestrian hood issue. but im not sold on the fact that they could not have still incorporated the round headlights into it. the 08 e-class has similar round headlights with the same squarish side profile and passes the EU requirements.

i think the headlights were more of an decision to make the sl look like the other new models, S, Cl, CLS, without waiting for a complete new model change.

It's still there for all the models except the 63 AMG with the new transmission.

Looks like a Mustang from the side view and a Sebring from the front That's what I would want to spend the big $$$ on something classy like a Mustang/Sebring combination

The wheels on the AMG models, look like a carbon copy of those from a Porsce 997 Turbo.

IMO, I dislike the car completely, they could have changed the rear to match the lines of the front, the car looks like too elongated from the front, so much so that if someone sat on the hood, the rear wheels would lift up in the air!

Yes, but if you were struck by this vehicle while crossing the street, I bet you would be singing a different tune.

I agree with you though, it is hideous.

I think it looks pretty good, but I still think the previous one hadn't outgrown it's design yet. I think it still looks fresh and modern and this "facelift" could have been held off for a few more years.
