It really depends on your location.
Places like California and Florida really get screwed. High demand regardless of economy situation.
The market is softening up however. Check on ebay, if you don't mind a used SL500.
I was told at MSRP, the wait is 9-12 months. If you are willing to pay about $5k over MSRP, you can get into the next available build slot.
