exhaust mod. help on a 2005
i have done all the searches and am still confused.
i do not want the car to sound like a mustang and dont want to straight pipe the rear mufflers.
i want some more growl from the exhaust and have come to the conclusion to elimimate the center boxes (cats?). i am attaching a pic.
will this cause any issues with the richness/running of the car?
will this change the note of the exhaust or is it not worth it?

Hey Spike, they're the cats so you'll probably get poor running and and fault codes as you suspect. Doubt just removing them would make much difference to the sound as the rear mufflers are really restrictive.
If its just a little more growl you're after open up the rear mufflers and cut out all the pipe work. Increases the volume and gives a subtle rumble.
Other than that you'll probably have to consider either AMG mufflers or an after market set up both may require mods to your bumper though.

cut out all internal pipes and repack it with fibreglass?
