Reliability?

I love my 03 SL55 and am really back and forth on selling it, it has 44k miles and counting and I'm just worried about reliability in the future especially if I start adding on some mods. I'm unsure if I should try to sell her and buy a newer one or stick with it? Any opinions and facts would be very helpful, thanks!

I have had my '03 SL55 since new, and it has really been brilliant.

Over the last 5 years I have had to replace the Tire pressure sensors and the AC compressor, and that is it. We have put more software programs and test miles on the road and track all without a hitch. With resale where it is, there is no point to selling. It is a great car.

I agree, it is an amazing car and I might as well just keep it forever since it will always be a classic! What have you done to yours? I'm in California but would be interested in purchasing from you guys, I've checked out your website a few times before.

Great car of you keep it maintained. It has been well chronicled that this car in its first year had some a water pump problem and you need to watch this.

The 2005 model had some updates and I would refer you to the e55 thread as they are on top of this shortcoming.

On my car I have done our ECU and TCU tuning. For me, it was more than enough hp/tq. I am more of a road course guy, rather than a drag racer. I also lowered the car, which helps handling. I like the new shifting parameters and speed of shifts. I am proud of what our software guys have achieved with what is already an outstanding product.

PM sent as well.......

2 Years with my SL55. Other than Brakes and Tires. License plate Bulbs.
No issues whatsoever. Radio gets a case of the shutdowns at start when its super hot outside. That too seems a common problem. But mine only does it 1 in a 200 times. Like 5-6 times all together. Then goes away when it is started again. The build quality on this car is obvious even after almost 50K miles on mine.
