SL500 sitting low at rear right hand side
Hello there,
I have a problem with my 2002 SL500; it is sitting ever so slightly lower on the rear right hand side (it's very slight - I doubt the casual observer would spot it, but it's really irritating me).
I don't think it's an issue with the strut - the car sits at the same angle on all 3 settings and with sport mode on or off, and it all works fine, no leaks etc. The car just seems to think that it should sit at that angle. The car does not "settle" overnight as some owners seem to complain of.
I have a suspicion that it's the level sensor that is at fault; can these be adjusted? Has anyone had this happen before?
Thanks all
Robert
I've just found a pic of the car from the back and you can make out the angle (although the car not being straight makes it harder to see)...

I suspect the level sensor as well. It can be adjusted. The documented procedure requires a Star Diagnosis System and a gauge for measuring suspension angles, so it is probably best to take the car to a well-equipped shop.

Thinking again on this,on a car with normal suspension, 1 weak spring on any corner will make the hole side drop.
I have been through what i can and though there are lateral sensors, and others,,they are for when driving and called acceleration sensors, there are also travel sensors all can be set on STAR.
Its worth getting the fault codes read out if there are any of the C1525 codes present.
When the engine is off, inner leakage of the lock valve in the front axle valve block Y36/1 or 2 may cause one sided lowering of the car, any faults here should give a C1525 --- fault code

Hi Malcolm - the car has been into MB for another unrelated fault (remember my discharging consumer battery and defective battery control unit ) and I can confirm that there are no error codes whatsoever.
I'll try the bleeding first - I just posted a question in another thread on here - can I do just that one wheel or is it a case of getting the entire car in the air?
Also - it's just that one wheel (back right) that seems to be at fault.
Cheers
Robert

If any of you guys ever want to do a job yourself and would like a work sheet please ask.
You may not be able to complete the job without STAR, but you can save a lot of money doing all of the donkey work.
I do things this way
