ABC Fluid smell 03 SL 500

on my 03 SL 500 whenever I have the hood opened I can smell the ABC fluid ,no leaks or problems with the car, other then the drivers side motor mount just went, that has fluid in it too but its not what im smelling,it almost reminds me of a burnt tranny type smell ABC pump has a whine to it but I think thats a common problem,so far no suspension issues ,just dont like the smell

Take a look at the inside of the front wheel, to see if it is wet or black looking,, any fault in the valve block will let the ABC fluid get onto the wheel, also look behind the front wheel as the are more ride control units there, and these can leak

The car must be on a lift with all 4 wheels hanging down and there are 4 bleed screws on each corner of the car, the header tank must be topped up after doing each wheel

This is the way that you bleed the ABC, there is the rodeo mode in STAR to get any air in the system to the struts, then you bleed as above

Do you need the engine running for this or not, or is it raise car, all wheels hanging and then simply undo and retighten each nipple.

I suspect it's engine running otherwise there will be no pressure.

I read over your article and could use your help. What does the bleeder valve look like ? Since the passenger side is OK do you still need these wheels off the ground ? This problem started after I disconnected the battery and did not drive the car for two months. Suddently I found it sagged one day. Please send all the information you can.

Thanks, Ralphee
