Definite agree there. I love the quote from Jeremy Clarkson when he was sitting in the Chrysler Crossfire (I think). He says, "That is the sound of a car that has been made to a budget. 15,000 parts all made by the lowest bidder."

My eyes were opened to the German engineering experience when we bought my wife's ML320. It was a '99 with 65K miles on it back in 2005. Here we are with over 86,000 miles and several years later and we've never had a lick of trouble with the thing. Starts every time. The same can't be said back in 2003 when I bought a Crown Vic LX Sport and had a warning light a few hours after I drove it off the lot. Turns out that a vacuum hose was loose -- and it probably came from the factory that way. That car being totaled was actually a good thing for me -- those events have landed me in this SL500 I'm now enjoying. 54,000 miles on it and it goes like a top.

I think there's a crack team of former German engineers who travel around the globe beating people who do this sort of thing to their precious cars. I hear they like to use wooden bats as they feel more natural against the skull.

I think in this case they'd beat you with the aluminum wing right after they gently removed it and patched up the rear deck lid.

I always thought that this is a true German ricer (SLR 722 GT). Of course the racing pedigree offsets the ricer stigma the looks may give it.

German racer, yes. But it doesn't have the boxy anime look rice rockets have. This sucker is solid, swept back and hugging the ground. (Except that if it's carbon fiber, it's not that solid, but you know what I mean....) Even the spoiler is brutally functional. Not to mention that it was built for exactly this purpose, versus being a commuter box that somebody snapped extras onto.

Maybe a brautwurst rocket?
