In the rear, you have to shorten the lenght in order to lower the car.

However in the front, the longer you nake the link, the lower your car will sit.

What did the lowering do to your alignment? How bout a shot from directly behind the car so we can see the angle of the rear wheels.

Well evidently it would trow the alignment off , but do you think by realigning it again would fix the problem ? because basically the only difference is shorter links !!!

Yes, after looking at this site it gave me the idea of doing it myself. I have a problem with paying other people to do things that I can do myself or at least THINK i can. But this time I was successful.

The lower you drop the car, thr more negative camber your gonna have.

Can the car be aligned back to factory specs after lowering or do you just have to live with the excess negative camber and accompanying tire wear?

The negative camber is not excessive. In fact its quite minimal. Also, a little bit of neg. Camber improves handling. However you can get an alignment done after lowering the car if you wish.

If your going to get an alignment done make sure the car is at its highest setting when the aligment is being done.

I'll try to post some pics of my car from the rear so that you guys can see for yourselves how minimal the camber is. Also my car is dropped close to 3inches, those of you who decide to lower it less will have even less camber.

Cheers!
Nick

Just a question, why would you align it when it’s at the highest position on the air ride, when more than likely we will be driving it on the lowest air ride setting ?

The reason is because if you did it on the lowest setting you would have a positive camber when you raised the vehicle. More chance of rubbing.

I have been running these on my CLS since 2006. I didn't install though, these guys at d2autosport did. I paid 450 way back then, but I think they are something like 325.00 now

Simply because ABC system adjusts its hight according to your driving conditions. AND you may not always want the car slammed. If/when the car is raised intentionally or not you definetly DON'T want positive camber.

Guys, you really shouldn't be too concerned with the alignment. Once you've lowered the car, bring it to an alignment shop and as long as your car was well aligned before the drop, you'll see that the negativity of the camber is minimal compared to the OEM alignment specs.

Just purchased the SL and it arrived yesterday. Love the car! Noticed it was lower than my buddies SL65 so I'm guessing the previous owner must have had it lowered. What a pleasant surprise
