im running 305/25/20 in the rear & 255s in the front with a slam and i'm in LA. roads are **** out here, the ride is smooth on the fwy but the streets...gotta be extra careful and avoid as many bumps and pot holes as much as possible. the car looks great with 20s, just get em and u wont regret it. u just gotta know how to handle n take care of it.

SL500
I'm also running 305/25/20 in the rear and 255/30/20 in the front and it's also lowered. The ride is more firm and handles better but you still have to watch for pot holes and bumps just the same. The quality of your rim comes into play also.

performance noise and ride feel looks value is the best of all I think these tires are the main reason why it rides better than any 18 , 19 i've had on the car and trust me i tried them all

Max,

Much appreciated for measurements. I have owned a few GXR's. I have an MV-Augusta and 998R Duc and ride an 02 RI Limited edition liquid silver, that is built well internal as well as external.

I'm looking into the variance between a few cars that have been lowered and have 20" wheels and 305 - 295 tires installed. I'm primarly looking for corner heights at lwest level and highest level if you can.

thanks again

European desiginated vehicles for 1st model year change, are manufactured with (3) packages; 1-Standard SL-500, 2-AMG-ver-01 SL-500R and AMG-ver-02 SL-500R.1.

SL-500 *standard vehicle with all options and AMG logo upgrades only.
SL-500R-AMG-01 *AMG ECU upgrade, larger main exhaust with no pre-mufflers and AMG full suspension.
SL-500R-AMG-02 *same as previous, but add full AMG big brakes and AMG supercharger and exhaust

Usually, after warranty \ service issues are noted for 1st 12 months, next model year thru average of (4) "with sudle body apprearance changes only; vehicles are manufactured SL-500 or Full AMG supercharged \ performance package as SL-55.

These are fact for 2003-2004, then 2004 thru 2008 with badging change to "550 and 65". Model 2009-2010 is full model makeover \ upgrade.

This has been design criteria since SL Roadstar inception.

The above said, i will leaving the badging as factory ordered, manufactured and purchased "Germany" and shipped to US via US Military"

Happy motoring.

"Kompressor" is German lay word for "PERFORMANCE" not an induction item on motor.

A European purchased vehicle has to pass DOT minimum standard guidelines. Instrument panels and Cat's are typically purchased thru a European dealer for US spec'd cars "much less expensive" + "US dollar exchange rate", then when vehicle is shipped, car DOT requirements made within 30 days, car inspected and approved.

i also have a collector quality "Granite Green" with Olive leather interior 1987 911 turbo "euro spec car" but much easier to convert to DOT spec.

The SL-500 is different in small ways that can be iritating. For instance, my ride height sensors adjust in 2mm increments in lieu of 1mm. The euro spec can save big money a dfew years back assuming you can get shipping cost into US "cheap" conversion is relatively straight forward if you have mechanical skill \ understanding of the vehicle and a good shop to do the work. The SL Mercedes "period" a finicky cars as you are aware, due to all teh "smart" electronics if you will.

This is one reason i asked for your ground to fender lip, corner measurments. I started out with the 3mm front and 2mm rear linkage adjustment and the system dropped almost 1.5 inches front and 1.15 rear as per the pictures. i have since "re-adjusted" as i like your cars stance and i'm a 50 year old driver. i do have 295 x 25 x 20" tires a little smaller profile than yours, but overall tire height should be very close.

If you don't mind and not too much trouble, can i get yuor fender to ground corner measurements in inches?
