Let me clarify...
DFI stands for Direct Fuel Injection...many other brands have/are going this route for emissions, mileage and power improvements and I'd like to know if this may be in the cards for MB/2010 SL's

Nope, 2010 SL will have the same engines as the 2009 models. Mercedes won't do DI here in the U.S. until our gasoline is cleaned up.
A real mystery to me since Audi, VW, BMW, Cadillac, Rolls-Royce, and others all have direct-injection engines sold here.

I may be in the market for a 2010 SL as my Carrera S's lease will be up right about when they come out.
Porsche and Audi have been having some nasty build up issues on the intake valves on some DFI cars...I wonder if the gasoline is to blame?

Also some new '09 Carrera's (which are now DFI)are having issues with heavy black soot coming out of the tail pipes.
