AC issues and R230...anyone..

have any issues? This is my fourth R230 and I've never had an issue, but this one's just not cutting it. It's just not blowing cold enough. On top of that, the right side vents will not get as cold as the driver's side. I would suspect it's low on refrigerant, so it must be leaking it somewhere. I think there have been some compressor replacements on 55 engined cars--I know they replaced the one on my E55, but that was for bearing noise. Anyone had these issues or know of a TSB on AC for R230? This is a 2/06 production 55, BTW. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea , but one thing i know is about the E55 you replaced the AC compressor because of the bearing noise. I changed the bearing once myself and it only cost $55 bucks There is a kit MB they use for cars under warranty , but won't sell it for regular repairs .

Didn't matter to me....

they just gave me a new AC compressor under warranty, so that worked fine.

I just check with this tech i know he says sometimes your control unit might be the problem , and not necessarily your compressor . HOPE THIS HELP

Agree. I thought that too...

since it's apparently having a hard time deciding hot to mix hot and cold air, and worse on one side than another. Thanks.

2003 SL500
Is the AC line in under the hood feel cold?

If not, it may be low in refrigerant which could means slow leaks somewhere.

My 03' SL500 had slow leaks, not sure where, I put in the AC sealer and it seems to work fine for now.

I'm still thinking it's...

om tje control unit. I drove it again yesterday, and it was colder (still not enough), and the right side is still warmer than the left. Makes me think the mixing of the hot and cold is out of whack.
