Farewell my MB Friends.

I brought my first MB and it was a 2006 SL500 on 30 Jan 2009. It was my 50th birthday Present. I love the car and still do. But I just could not take it anymore. I was in the shop 10-times from water leaks, dead battery, and finally what I perceived as a suspension problem (the car would snag about one inch on the front right side). And I had a loaner for about 14-days. The suspension problem, I traveled to three MB shops in a 20-mile radius. And from reading this forum I get the impression that some people have scanner and are DIY or just live with the glich. Today, I gave up. After leaving my car in the third MB shop for 5-days and the suspension problem is not fixed, I went back to my 4th BMWs', maybe not a better car, but a more simple car. For the same payment, I got all the toys and my NAV has more then four colors. Good luck to everyone and I found the site very helpful. My biggest problem was reliability and the perception the car was too complicated for the MB techs.

Think you were very unlucky jagostini but not surprised as you've had more than your fair share of problems. Think I'd have done the same.

Enjoy your BMW.

Kinda funny. I had tons of problems with my SL600 until I just finally dropped it off at the dealership and just told them to make it perfect. Never had a problem with it afterwards. All used (pre-owned?) cars have that problem. Usually due to lack of maintenance. Once you get past all the little issues that come with acquiring anything pre-owned, the cars usually become reliable. The other option is to buy new, but I just really have a problem losing 30% of book value just driving it off the lot.

I usually have the car checked out by a dealership before purchasing and my SL65 wasn't any different. I'm sure it's gonna need some sort of maintenance / catch-up work, but when it's done, it'll be cherry. Good luck with the Bimmer. Enjoy it! You only live once!
