Which wheels do you like better?

I'm debating about these two set of wheels so I photoshopped them onto my car to see how they look. They are the AMG 817 and 818 style wheels. Which one do you guys like best?

817's

818's

For ME the 817's make the SL look "Asian'esy"

I think the 818s match the appearance of the car better than the 817s. Compare the side louvers to the wheels. The louvers at two bar and so are the 818s. They look factory.

Good thought on the side louvers. I do like how that compliments each other.

As of now these are my only two options. I could go with the E63 wheels but I like the idea of sticking with the SL wheels for that orginal factory look.

I wondering if those 818's will be to "open". The calipers and rotors just aren't as impressive on a SL500 as they are on the SL65 these wheels go on

The 817's look like they would be hard to clean with all those tight spaces.

I like the 817's- the three spoke with no lip looks great.

ALthough I do like the comment how the split two spoke compliments the side grills, I've always been an "Aftermarket" look type guy...

Three Spoke- More aftermarket look.
Two Spoke- More Stock look.

I guess the biggest question isn't which ones we like the best -- it's which ones do you like the best? Don't worry about our opinions. If they both look good to you, you're fortunate -- you can't lose.

I think the best solution then will be to purchase 2 of the 817's for the left side of the car and 2 of the 818's for the right side. After all you can't see both sides of the car at the same time so depending on what kind of mood I'm in will determine what side of the car to look at!

Those 818s are beautiful. The spokes are long, thin, symmetrical, and strong. The 817s are too asian-style, like dalton said.

Thanks for all the input. I compiled the results and it came out to a tie! 4 votes for the 817's and 4 votes for the 818's. This pretty much gave me the conclusion that I couldn't go wrong with either wheel. So which wheel did I go with you're probably asking yourself? After much pondering I decided on the 818's. They are being installed tomorrow and I will post some pics for those who are interested. I also picked up some chrome valve stems and caps to make them look extra pretty.

I ran into a problem today with these wheels. I got a call saying the front wheels did not fit because the hub was pushing the center cap off. I was pretty surprised since the front 818's are the exact size and offset as my front OEM wheel. I made a trip to the tire shop to take a look for myself and discovered that the new center caps were the problem, not the wheel. There was a long plastic post on the inside of the center cap that was hitting the hub. The OEM center caps did not have this post so you either need to cut the post off, or use your original caps.

Luckily it turned out ok, but had I taken the tire shops word that the wheels didn't fit I would have ended up returning them. I've only driven about 10 miles on them but so far I can't tell any difference over the OEM wheels. I can say they look great though! The wheels are 18". I'll post some pics this weekend!

LOL, you were right!

These are replica's of the SL65 AMG Wheels. They are $599 from PowerWheelsPro who is a sponsor on this site. It's a great price and they have very good service!
