Question Launch Edition

This is taken from http://gwwtcomm.tripod.com/buythisbenz/id12.html

""The "Launch Edition" will be a spectacular, unique, limited production (2000 for US Market) model. It will be produced with a special, unique Designo Silver exterior, special interior and trim elements and exclusive 18" wheels. ""

Sounds good.. the Silver was pretty much confirmed. Some nice 2 piece AMG wheels would be nice Anyone with any other information? What is the designo silver like?

Johan

You may be right about the launch addition being a rip off, but Mercedes has yet to release details of how the car will be equiped. If it includes the AMG body trim work, 18 inch rims, Keyless Go, Bi-Xenon, Distronic, Parktronic, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Special Paint the price may be right in line with the cost of those options. I am waiting for my Launch Addition and I hope I am not just paying extra for a special paint job.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I have heard of several dealers charging $20,000 over MSRP. I'm glad my dealer is sticking to MSRP. Unfortunately, whenever there is a product with demand well exceeding supply, people with take advantage of it. If everyone would remain patient and wait in line, the greedy ones would be stuck with their over priced product.

Those markups don't really surprise me. Everytime a brand new hot car comes out that is very limited someone will always try to make extra $$$$$ off of it. B**tards!

well, i'd agree w/ that also. as long as there is demand, what are you going to do?

You are right about Alaska not being the best place for a fine automobile, but pickup trucks just don't handle very well! I have a 2000 ML 430 that I drive during our 6 months of winter. I think this is one place where the Panorama Roof option makes sense. Actually, there are quite a few nice cars here. We have a Mercedes dealer and a Porsche dealer.

VPC Driver - is that picture of a Launch Edition? Are you sure?

Thanks,
Doody.

Don't love it toomuch

Unfortunately, for those of us that live in cities, that antenna is going to be a problem. I already have had my star taken off my hood a number of times and have to bet that everytime a teenager walks by the car they are going to pull on that antenna. Well, I guess I will try not to leave it on the street too much.

Yes that is the LE. Sorry the photo really didn't do it justice as the lighting wasn't good enough to show it's true color. It's really light gold color that looks more silver-ish in darker environments.

Ditto my feelings about antenna anxiety.
That thing is sitting right on the side of the car just begging to be yanked as mischievious youth pass by.
Wonder why they couldn't have buried it in a groove along the window base or something.
