since it doesn't stay open, but when you replace them, it doesn't close easily...has anyone tried just changing one to get the "in between" effect?

I just replaced mine with the Stabilus version from amazon. Took 2 minutes and are soooo much better than the stockers. I just need to change out my latching mechanism because there is no hope of repairing the leaks. As of right now I have to slam that thing to get it closed.
