Cold air through vents when a/c is off

The a/c on my '05 SL500 works like a champ. However, when I turn it off, cold air will still come through the vents for awhile (5 min or so). Anything to be concerned about or par for the course?

Funny you should ask, I have the same issue with my 'O6 SL500. At first I thought there was a problem, but realized that there wasn't an issue. I talked to the SA and he said no issue. Hope this helps....

I've also noticed this on my '08 C350. Makes me wonder if the A/C is actually turning off right away. Every other vehicle I've driven, once the A/C is turned off the air starts to get warm within a minute or two.

Same thing here but..

On my '30 R230 the cold air keeps coming, even though the button is pushed that says "AC OFF." I used to think it was residual cold air in the evaporator but it's not. I can drive for miles and miles and the cold air keeps coming, my wife's "04 SLK does the same thing.

The only way I have found to make the compressor not run is to choose AC OFF when the car isn't running with the ignition ON. Or sometimes I am lucky and can push the buttons between the "0" and " AC OFF" fast enough to make the compressor disengage.

It's a poor system at best, OFF should be OFF, as soon as the evaporator gets warm.

if im not mistaken, the ac compressors on newer benzes never actually turn off (something about too much wear and tear from constantly turning them on and off, which apparently can lead to premature failure)... so these cars use a different method of turning the ac off instead of simply disengaging the compressor clutch (i dont remember exactly how but i read it somewhere on these forums).

and whatever that method is, it's probably why you guys still feel some residual cold air (that's how my w211 was too)
