Opinions Wanted: 2009 SL550 Color Combo
I am leaning towards Black/Ash. Other combos I like are Black/Designo Porcelain, Black/Stone, Diamond White/Ash, Diamond White/Designo Porcelain and Diamond White/Stone.
Any thoughts here on which looks the best? At this point, I am pretty open to any of them and will probably just go with what's available at a good price.

I'd stay away from black. I think black hides too many of the car's shapes. Of the choices you listed, I like the Diamond White / Designo or Stone combo best. The other thing to think about is how hot a dark colored interior is with the top down. I'll never own another dark interior again.

As nice as Porcelain and Ash look, if you wear dark color jeans or jeans in general, the more you sit in your car, the more you notice the bolsters turning blueish. Now Ash is better than the porcelain, but light color seats upkeep is a bit annoying, n the more you clean it, the worse it gets, trust me, I had customer white n red leather seats in my previous S2000, haha, clean for a day, barely

Oh oh. I do wear a lot of jeans. Sounds scary about the seats turning blueish in a porcelain or ash car. Might happen to stone seats too, since its pretty light. I'm trying to stay away from a black interior because of the heat issue. Hmmmm....

2011 Diamond White SL63, 2008 Paladium Grey C63, 2008 ML 350 AMG Sport pckg,
I have the diamond white with cream interior.. BEAUTIFUL i think. I had a blk prior to this, but I have to a agree, the blk hides the incredible lines of the car. The diamond white looks amazing in the sunlight.. Take a look at my pics if you want an idea.
Good luck!

designo ALL THE WAY, plus you never see yourself coming and going as much, an added plus IMHO (but I am biased in my affinity to the designo's).

Hahaha! You guys are making me more confused now in regards to interior color. However, it looks like a consensus is forming for an exterior color. Diamond white appears to be a better choice than black.
Obviously, Diamond/Porcelain is stunning for sure and Diamond/Stone is very popular and nice too. Stone's probably the most common interior color that's matched with Diamond white. What other interiors would be good choices with a diamond white car?

300SDLguy: those are two amazing designo cars you have there! Do you have any more pics?
tyrese, tough choices, everything you mentioned sounds great. Diamond White with Stone looks fantastic though, and very rich in person:

I made an offer on a Diamond/Porcelain car late last week. It has not worked out so far. However, I looked around and just saw a Diamond/Black SL63 listed today for essentially the same price the other dealer wanted for the SL550. The bad thing is that its 2000 miles away. Anyone here get their new vehicle from a dealer that far away? Is it a big hassle?

I finally found my car. Went to dealer and completed the transaction today. Diamond white/ash with P1 package, pano roof, parktronic, wheel package. Will pick car up sometime next week. Got it for $21K under MSRP.

Congrats, Tyrese. I've followed you spending a lot of time researching this; so it's good to see your efforts paying off.
What color did you purchase?
What was the MSRP for your vehicle? How were you able to get the 21K off MSRP? Any guidance you could give those of us about to begin the process would be helpful.
Many thanks!

I purchased a diamond white/ash with P1 package, pano roof, parktronic and wheel package. $110,260 MSRP and paid $89,260 for it. There is a $15K manufacturer to dealer incentive for this month and I suspect many cars will get sold because of this. You should be able to get $20K to probably $23K off MSRP, depending on how picky you are with colors, etc.

Thanks tyrese. Please send us pictures when you can. Sounds nice. Was it difficult extracting this discount from the dealer or fairly easy? Did you get it from a local dealer or go the out of town route.
Thanks again for sharing.

I will post pics after I pick the car up. It wasnt that hard to get the discount. One dealer started at $17.5K off, and the next thing I knew, was being offered $19K, then $20K by another. Finally $21K for the color I liked a lot, so I pulled the trigger. I suspect that you can get $22-23K off if you are flexible. Ended up getting it from a local dealer close to San Francisco.

I picked up the car yesterday and took a few pics in the photo album. Between the gloomy weather and bad photography skills by me, the pics didn't come out great, but I just wanted to post a few pics. Will put up better ones in due time!
