48 Month Report Card
Here is the latest installment of my ownership report cards.
0-12 months
1. Glovebox wouldn't open
2. A waterleak into the trunk
12-18 months
3. My CD changer stopped working
4. Climate Control System not working properly (replaced COMAND unit)
5. 9 and # buttons on the COMAND were not illuminated
18-24 months
6. Transmission malfunctioned, unable to drive car. Diagnosis by MB - valve body failed. They ended up rebuilding the entire rear end of the transmission system.
7. Oil leak.
24-36 months
No problems to report. Car is working flawlessly and has for the past year.
26-48 months
8. Passenger door sill trim became loose.
9. Bottom of driver side headrest beginning to fall out.
10. Trunk would not open from switch on door, key fob or manually lifting at trunk.
11. Convertible top motor would not stop running when top had completely opened or closed.
12. Transmission oil cooler line leak.
13. Purge Control Valve (Pollution Control item) had a leak. Caused Check Engine light to illuminate.
Well, warranty is now gone so I'm on my own now. I purchased a Chrysler 5 year, 70, 000 mi. extended warranty that hopefully will cover me until 2014 or 113,094 miles. In spite of the 13 issues over 4 years I've noted here I'm still very, very happy with my SL500!

Wow!
If you look at your history, one would probably not purchase a SL. On the other hand they are such fun vehicles and they look so damn good that what the hell.. They are still awesome vehicles!
