With the support of these forums, I was finally able to bring the SL back to life after 2 months of death by ESM shift lever failure.

Just in time for a freezing fall.. and only to find.. the car no longer outputs any heat!! Regardless of whatever climate control settings or how warm the coolant is - nothing comes out.

What's wrong this time?

i had a similar problem - turned out to be a loose connection under the shifter....

Woah woah woah.. I just had the whole shifter area taken out to fix the ESM... What's down there that affects the heat??? A temperature sensor? Where is it?

i honestly don't know what it was since the dealer fixed it, but it sure sounds like one of the connections wasnt put back completely.

Checked all the connections under the console.. They're fine... Sigh.. This car is such a pain..
