SL model change

Anybody know when the SL model change is to occur?
Initially I heard 2013. But now I'm hearing 2011. This makes more sense
with no 2010 line up. Need help, contemplating pulling the trigger on an 09
but dont want to be with an outdated model in less then a year

Smile 2012 SL

The 2009 was held expecting a new model in 2011 as a 2012 MY with a year hiatus. And then the test car prototypes were found not safe (something about rollovers crushing occupants) so they are delayed by a year. The plans are to release the same body with few tweaks in 2010-2011 and a whole new model in 2012. The 2012 model line will have a coupe (previously the CL) and a roadster, a la E sedan and coupe. All in all, the 2012 will have a coupe SL and a roadster SL.

Wow, that's a lot of info that is unfortunately just not even close to being right. The MY10 was skipped and the MY11 will launch in Q1 2010. The MY10 was skipped mainly due to the over supply of MY09 SL models on the market. No reason to launch a MY10 if there is a large supply of MY09s. Further, if the MY10 was launched, it would have been so late that the MY11 would have come on top of it which does not work either. Safety issues on the SL - no way. The MY11 will have a few minor tweaks but nothing major on the SL for a couple years at least.

got it from two dealers in tampa and the one in puerto rico gave me the news about the safety issues on the new models. the sL and CL will be one to avoid confusion with clk, c, cls.

Mass confusion thread here. The CL will become the S-Class coupe like the CLK became the E-Class Coupe. Has nothing to do with the SL.

The explanation for no MY 2010 given by silberrosa is correct. I suspect they'll give it the LED treatment like the rest of the 2010 lineup. Other than that no major changes. New SL for either the 2012 or 2013 model year. I suspect both the 2011 SL and CL/S Coupe will be presented at the LA show or possibly even Detroit. Maybe Geneva for the SL.

I think we would have seen spy shots of the 6th generation SL by now if it were coming out in 2011. We saw spy shots of what was to become the SLS 2 years ago.

And if I'm not mistaken, the CL is already based on the S.

Don't believe everything you hear from stealers. Its a proven fact that forums usually know more.

Dealers may have received the official communication bulletin from DC....

Forums do not always know more....but they usually know better......forums are democratic, Manufacturers not.....

hell, i'm still a little confused after reading these posts. lol

but i agree about not trusting the dealerships, they seem to put out info that somehow will benefit them at the time. kinda like when they told me in 99' that there will be no clk 430 convertible for the 2000' model. but only a 320. i even called MBusa in NJ.

they lie!
