Nitto Invo Tires

I've pretty much worn out the pilot sports on my SL600 and looking to replace them with Nitto Invos.

Does anyone here use the Invos ? Unless someone with an SL has something bad to say about them - I think I am going to give them a try.

I can keep the 255/40 in the front - but the rears will have to be bumped up to a 295/35. I have the stock 18" wheels - will this be a problem?

I am currently using 295/35/18 on mine. no problem. it doesnt look as good though because the rim is so much more inside the tire

Let me know if you get them. I would love to try them when my current rubber wears out.

I'll have them Wednesday and let you know how they are.

I just had a funny/scary experience at the place I am getting the Nittos. I am running on a spare while I am waiting for them to come in and one of the employees offered to check my pressure while they were checking on the shipment of the nittos. I walk out and see that he is trying to force 80PSI in the spare. Because of the big yellow "80 km/h" on the wheel he assumed that it meant the spare needed 80psi and even tried to argue until the manager came out. Took it back down to 44psi and left laughing, but kinda scared to think of what would have happened if I didn't catch it...

Please post a photo of the new tires once they are mounted!

LoL @ the 80 PSI, although some spare tires do have crazy high PSI ratings. I think if got the 80 PSI in there about all that would happen is it would ride a bit rougher.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
I know I"m getting old, but...

Nittos on a Mercedes? Not for me. This can only lead to Hankooks, Nexens, and Nankangs. I know, someone is going to come here and tell me how all of those are superior to everything else. OK. Good for you. I've just had too much frustration with tires that aren't round and ride poorly to get off the major brand train. Go ahead, hit me.

Not going to hit you. I can relate to the out of round crappy tire problems. But I must say Nitto is a pretty respected brand these days. I have a few sets of them and been very happy. I had a set of Nitto 555 Extreme Performance on my 129 and they were great.

I use to swear I would never buy Kuhmo's either, I had a few sets of the early ones and they failed very fast. But I have a set on my Kia and they are good tires for the entry level cars. But I agree they aren't Mercedes quality.

I took some pics, but the car is just too dirty to post them here. It rained on Monday and I have not had a chance to clean her up. I fear I may be banned if I posted pics of a dirty black SL here AND put nittos on her

My initial impressions are very good. Noticeably softer ride on rough roads, and they seem to hookup really well even with it being 36 degrees outside. I need to go take some of my normal corners to see how they hold up.

Let me put a few hundred miles on them and I will be back.

So far I really like them. They ride a lot smoother and are quiet. I haven't really had a chance to push them too hard, but so far I am very pleased with my decision.. Here are some pics - I've never photographed tires before, my neighbors must think I am nuts.

Thanks!! They are a very good looking tire. I will have to look into these the next time I buy rubber. Let us know a few months down the road if you still like them.
