Question C32 AMG vs SL500 with AMG kit & rims

Which would you choose if super performance and super style are equally important.

2 seater, 4 seater is not important. Convertible or not, don't mind.

and if you Can't spend more for SL55! just between these two!!

It's not as easy as you may think.

C32 AMG
We, the SL will be QUITE a bit more expensive, but it undeniably is cooler looking.

The SL is also QUITE a bit slower than the C32. They both handle pretty well, but I would give the edge to the C32 because of the weight. And it is easy (with a coilover kit) to get GREAT handling from the C32, not so easy with the SL.

That said, the SL should have "enough" power for most people (OK, maybe nobody in THESE forums )

So, "super performance" ==> C32
"super style" ==> SL500

You could get a C32 and spend 30 grand spicing it up with more performance and style!

The new E55 is a choice, too. Or the CLK55, for that matter - it has very good performance AND style!

SL55 AMG
It is easy, take the SL500 every time. It doesn't matter how tweaked the car is, the C Class is still the bottom of the range (although in Europe, there is a runt called the A Class) where the SL is the top of the range.

The SL500 does not have the performance of the C32 AMG but for most people it will still provide enough to wallpaper your basement with tickets. Add in the better interior, the technology (SBC/ABC), the lower relative depreciation, it's easy to decide.

I'm not especially keen on the CLK55 AMG which is way over-priced here - you can get a base 911 for the same money. I think the car is too narrow in relation to its length which makes it look odd - the same as a BMW 5 series. The forthcoming CLK cabriolet looks better than the coupe and I agree the E class is a big step up from the C.

Smile thanks

thanks to all for the clarifications, its always good to hear other peoples views.
So it will now boil down to how much money I can afford to spend. I now believe that the SL500 would be my first choice, now to look for the cash.

If you really did want to pick which car to get, i'd say get the SL500, looks different from any car on the road. C32 even though a true enthusiat would notice the difference most people would just view it as another Mercedes Sedan.
