Noticed the light wasn't working that illuminates from below the Cigarette lighter.
Looking at the job it looks like no easy fix the entire center Bezel needs to be removed is this correct surly they would have made it this difficult to change a bulb?

Sorry about resurrecting a very old post, but this was the only one that shows up in a search for "cigarette lighter bulb" that pertains to the bulb in the cigarette lighter area. There are quite a few about "cigarette lighter" and even more for "bulb". Even found another post that has both "cigarette lighter" and "bulb", but it is a thread about replacing DRL's with LED.
My cigarette lighter bulb is also not working and I'd like to either replace it or at least get to the socket to test for voltage. Hopefully someone will chime in with the bulb replacement procedure and the part number for the replacement bulb itself.

Yes the center console needs to be taken out. The ash tray is part of it. https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...ml#post7676923 (take notice of that whole thread).
I replaced the whole socket and that freshened up that section of my dash. I couldn’t remove the old socket without crushing it, working from behind.
Pristine...
