Question speed breakdown

Have had my 2003 sl 500about six months, when I hit passing gear and stay on it it sometimes after I stop and start again there is no power creating a dangerous start-up with only one-third the power. I can turn engine off and restart and everything resets back to normal.(about six times so far) Anybody out there that can help me, I am looking forward to reading your thoughts about whats happening. Thanks,Rodred 4

This is very confusing and difficult to understand. After reading several times, it sounds like your car loses power. However, when restarted it is fine.

Could be ECU problem.

Is the power loss only when you accelerate from a stand still? Or, is the car sluggish throughout the powerband?

Thanks, guys for your replys. I will get the ecu checked if it happens again, hasnt went into one-half power for quite a while now. A friend of mine liked my 03 sl500 so much,he got a 06 sl,I had told him what mine was doing every once in a while when I would hotrod it (pull over, turn key off, start it again) All power is back. Seen him last week, said his sl did that to him one time, he recalled what I told him so he restarted his and then it was ok again so I dont know guys but I know I love the car, enjoying it more than anything I have ever owned. Love my 82 380 sl also but of course nowhere near the power or as easy to lower the top. Rodred 4
