SL/R230: Unlocking rear storage compartments with no PSE pump?

Unlocking rear storage compartments with no PSE pump?
Can anyone help me figure out how to get into the rear storage compartment to replace fuse 71 when the PSE pump (controlled by fuse 71) is inoperative?
The manual states: "The storage compartment under the armrest and the rear storage compartments can only be unlocked at the glove box lock using the mechanical key." However, I think this only works when the central locking is operational.
My SL is scheduled to go in to have the rear window seal replaced next week but it rained on Friday and the fuse blew when I went to unlock the car, so I can get into the trunk and open doors with the key, but I can't open the rear storage compartment or armrest storage. Do I have to wait for MB to do it or can I get it open without destroying anything?
The PSE pump works fine when the "sponge" around it has dried out, so if I can replace the fuse, it should be OK until it rains.

Right under the pass side compartment there is a leather panel Carefully pry from the top and pop it out.. right under the compartment and you can access the fuses from there
