TCU upgrade

I recently upgraded my ECU with Kleemann which i am real happy with. I did not do the TCU. Does the TCU upgrade make a difference in the performance of my 2006 SL600?

My ex-cars: 03 E55,04 C32, 05 C55 ,03 E320
I did it on my SL600...ECU first and then the TCU a few months later.
Some members say "it will unleash the torque" but to be honest i didnt feel a difference other than quicker shiftings.

It could use a quicker shift though. What tune did you go with?

RE: TCU Upgrade

I would pose your question directly to Kleemann.

With the 600tt cars the TCU tuning will have the car shift quicker, but it goes a little further. When we tune the 600 ECUs, those cars generate so much torque that the stock TCU programming limits the engine's torque. When we tune the TCU, it allows the engine to transfer more torque. It is a very nice upgrade. full throttle shifts can be snappy, but it really helps bring out the sporting nature of the car.

I drove an amg e63 and it shifts days faster than my car....Kinda thinkin if there is a reasonable price for an ecu/tcu combo out there I will go for it.

Reasonable is one thing. Cheap vs. quality is another. The old expression, "You get what you pay for" is profound when it comes to writing quality software for a complicated $100K+ car. There are allot of variables as well as R&D that needs to take place. The last thing you want is someone who cut corners and leaves you with a big bang!

Since getting into the software business I have seen some 'interesting' players. It seems like every kid with a laptop thinks they are performance software writers.

There are so many parameters in most modern cars (esp. MB) to consider, and all the systems talk to each other and have to be considered and written for. Anything less can spell an expensive disaster. When these guys are playing with a $5K Subaru, there isn't much at risk. But with MB/AM, Porsche, BMW, Ferrari and Lamborghini you don't want mistakes or trial and error. You want it to work! The writers with serious factory experience are expensive to hire and thus reflected in the pricing of quality software.

With my own cars, I have always found that once the money is spent, I forget about the price and appreciate the quality.
