when the middle break lights(not sure the correct name) fell apart in my hands and broke off. Just above the MB Logo on the trunk there is thin red plastic strip on my SL550 which covers a strip of lights. I can't seem to get to it, apart from taking the inside apart and notice it's sort of hanging out and exposed to the elements................. as rain can get inside now and I don't know if it was originally glued on..

still under warranty, but wondered if I can still drive around with this situation. Hope I have explained it correctly.

Happened to my car. MB dealer replaced it no charge. They know about this issue.

thx, but what I relly wanted to know is, if the dealer can't fit me in for a while, should I tape the back up or suggestions what to do in the meantime....?

Tape it back up or put red tape or something over it, saran wrap? Same thing happened to my fathers car and he got water in his trunk when it rained. The trunk has never smelt normal again and is still damp to this day. Get it replaced ASAP or you will regret it. Its free under warranty anyway. And while your there ask about any firmware updates to the transmission, or command system or whatever... get your trips worth! lol
